COMMUNICATION
After hearing Justin Meise, in class on Thursday, I believe that there are a lot of things that River Communications can do to improve today. One of the things that I believe that they can do is to include a younger audience. With many people being affected by the recession today, I feel that today's youth wants to do something about the economical procedures in society today. With many college kids not having jobs right after graduation, they want to find a way to get a hold of a position in the working world today. River Communications can find many more different ways to get their message across today by not just only holding interviews in FOX Business, or have articles written in The Wall Street Journal. They can also go across College Campuses and host seminars for today's youth to understand how the economy works today, since not a lot of people don't really know how the economy system works. One can also use the idea of having podcasts so people can download these things and listen to them on their ipod while they go to work, or working out in the gym. The message is always getting across and that's very important today. The obvious factor that we all seem to know and understand is that "money doesn't grow on trees" and that everyone can seem to say and know that in order for anyone to make it in this world, they need to know that hard work always pays off.
RESEARCH

In order to find out who and what is really River Communications audience, they should conduct a study to see who really is paying attention to River Communications and M3. Now one may think that this is finding out the demographics and then trying to have only a specific audience, but really this is to expand River Communications to everyone around the world. It's much better to have a bigger and broader audience instead of a small audience that knows the same amount of information as the people in the same pool. There are some local news stations that more people watch compared to CNN Money, such as NY1 Money Matters, which is a New York City local news channel that shows News all day 24hours, 7 days per week. NY1 Money Matters a small segment that is shown as a part of NY1 news. With River Communications reaching out to smaller communication outlets, this would be a much better tactic that everyone can benefit from because you will always know that someone is watching and listening to what you are saying.

While your idea about targeting a younger audience would usually be a good one, I'm not sure if it would help M3's case. If they spoke to college students, it would mostly be to inform them about the economy and prepare them for the "real world". However, this wouldn't exactly get them the business they need. What percentage of these students are really going to have the money to use M3 one day. Also, I think that M3 wants business now... not in the future when other similar services have developed.
I agree with Megan... maybe River Communications can hold internships and job opportunities for younger audiences to help with their research, given that we have much more experience with technology than do older generations. However, I don't think their target market is college students.
